Yuk Fong Chin holds a PhD in Business Administration from European University, Switzerland.  He has been the Chief Executive Officer of Jesselton College Sabah (JCS) since 2010 and Director of the Pine Academy Group, Malaysia since 2001.  In addition, he serves as professor for training and assessment, accountancy and marketing of EU Business School, Switzerland.  Besides, establishing academic linkages with local and international institutions, he is involved in quality assurance, program development, blended learning and human resource management.  His research interests include organizational change, marketing ethics, financial consulting and entrepreneurship.

Chin is Fellow of the following associations:  Institute of Public Accountants, Australia; Taxation Institute of Australia, Association of International Accountants, UK; Institute of Financial Accountants, UK; Society of Operations Engineers, UK and Institute of Plant Engineers, UK.  Further, he is a Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and Institute of Marketing Malaysia.  He also holds a Graduateship from City and Guilds of London Institute, UK.

As CEO of JCS, Chin assumes several responsibilities.  First and foremost, he determines and communicates the college’s strategic direction that ensures effective decision-making and the pursuit of group goals guided by group values.  Further, he strives to describe the JCS’s strategic direction in a clear, engaging and exciting way for all stakeholders and sees that all staff understand how this direction affects their job and responsibilities.

Besides owning the vision of JCS, Chin provides the proper resources, especially in terms of capital and people.  He ensures that both are sufficient at the right time for JCS to thrive.  Apart from having experience in budgeting and resource allocation, he stives to maintain a balance of resources for diffrent groups and initiatives, according to the college’s goals.  To achieve this, he has to place the right people in the right positions with the right qualifications.

Additionally, Chin is responsible for building and achieving the culture of JCS which consists of shared attitudes, goals, behaviors and values.  He constantly observes the college’s culture influences the staff experience and thus the student experience.  He ensures that the college’s values are applied consistently from top to bottom, across all departments so that all staff feel safe and respected, encouraging them to perform to their fullest potential.

Finally, Chin oversees and delivers the performance of JCS and assumes an active role in driving its performance.  He strvies to maintain a keen awareness of the higher education industry and market and keeps abreast with its core functions to ensure the proper execution of tasks.  Additionally, he serves as the interface between internal operations and external stakeholders, determining how different stakeholders expect JCS to perform and using the proper metrics to accurately gauge performance.
